On a day before the wedding, the groom's parents invite the bride's parents and close family members for a meal. If the family lives in another city, then this event takes place one day prior to the wedding and is hosted in a marriage hall.Â
In olden times, this would be a way to ease the burden of planning a meal from the bride's family, who would have typically travelled to the wedding from a nearby town or village. This would also serve as a good way to interact with each other in a less formal sessiom.
